Electric guitars is usually "more fun" for children which often = success because they'll play it more. Electric guitar is also easier to play because it has a smaller body, thinner strings and the strings are closer to the fingerboard. Therefore they have success quicker which often means they stick with it. That's what we all want - them to stick with it. Later they can also play acoustic guitar. Most guitarists play both. But for a child it's certainly easier to start on electric. With an electric though you'd want an amplifier also so they can hear the guitar and add effects like distortion or reverb etc. A little more $ to the purchase but that might be the difference of this being a lifetime hobby for them also. :-)

Travel guitars

Travel guitars available at Baxter guitars. Travel guitars are great for the musician on the go. Small enough to pack away and travel with or take to a camp etc. Children also find them easy to play because of the smaller size.
